Getac rugged handheld device Getac PS236 to receive the 2010 Computex Best Choice Award

Computex Taipei, May 26, 2010-- The Computex Best Choice Award is one of the most representative and prestigious information communication technology (ICT) product awards in Asia, and today, the list of award-winning manufacturers and product for this year’s event has been unveiled. Getac Technology Corporation’s rugged handheld device Getac PS236 has certainly made quite an impression on the judges in order to be selected for the award. The Getac PS236 is the world’s first fully rugged handheld device that comes with comprehensive GIS (geographic information system) functionalities, along with a 3.5” TFT LCD VGA display. It is professional handheld device specifically designed to cater to the needs of users so they may handle any operation with the unit in extreme outdoor environments.

Getac PS236 is the first fully rugged handheld built to meet MIL-STD 810G with high speed HSDPA wireless networking. The built-in GPS receiver, E-compass, altimeter and 3M pixels auto-focus camera have been neatly integrated to develop an all-in-one solution. Featuring with RS232 serial port and USB OTG, Getac PS236 provides high compatibility and flexible connectivity for various industrial applications. The embedded 4GB memory storage plus an external SDHC card slot supporting up to 16GB ensure extensive data process and storage. Two optional keyboard features, numeric keypad and PDA keypad, are designed to meet different user needs. The PS236 further offers substantially long battery life up to 10 hours to provide all-day power.
